Consensus recommendations on the management of depressive disorders in pregnancy
The Italian Societies of Toxicology, Neuropsychopharmacology, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Drug Addiction, and Addiction Pathology have published joint consensus recommendations regarding the management of depressive disorders in pregnancy. These recommendations focussed on five key areas including: (i) the importance of management of anxiety and depressive disorders in pregnancy; (ii) the overall risk of malformation with antidepressant and anxiolytic drugs; (iii) the risk of neonatal adaptation disorders; (iv) long-term cognitive development and infant behaviour after in utero antidepressant/anxiolytic exposure; and (v) the pharmacological treatment of opioid-abusing pregnant women with depressive disorders. The full recommendations are available here.
