Oropouche virus: Case series of newborns with microcephaly in Brazil
Brazilian researchers have published a case series of newborns with microcephaly in Brazil in which they discuss vertical transmission of Oropouche virus (OROV) as the possible aetiological cause. The authors of the case series conclude that the evidence they present does not confirm vertical transmission or congenital malformations due to OROV disease in pregnancy, but call for priority action in locating cases and detailed investigation of maternal and fetal OROV infection.
