SARS-CoV-2 infection and stillbirth aetiology

An interesting case report has described syncytiotrophoblasts as a major cellular target for SARS-CoV-2 infection of the placenta, and suggested that the possible stillbirth risks of placentotropic SARS-CoV-2 may be related to hampered maternal and/or fetal perfusion of the placenta.
